Howdy, Boys:
A few of us are trying to establish the availability and rarity of the MUNCHEN grade Model 32. We are not sure of exactly what we are dealing with here. Was it a grade imported by du Pont, or was it a European only grade of the 32? Thus far, we are thinking the latter to be the case. At one time Dieter told me he thought perhaps the 'MUNCHEN' grade may have only been a grade for the Model 62 'Europa Arms'. We have already disproved that. Please understand; Dieter was only guessing from memory, based on what he observed as a very young man - not in the capacity he is in today. It was not his job to recall such details at that time.
So.. if you have, or know of any Munchen grade Model 32's, and if you know how they came into the U.S., then please share with us. We would be obliged.
M.D.

Ian: Yes, Krieghoff-Germany has records. But they want you to submit a serial number and they research that particular serial number. If I had a million dollars I would see if Dieter would let me research the archives in Germany. But, alas, I am but a poor, ignorant Southerner who can barely afford some Krieghoffs..

duPont/Krieghoff did import Munchen grade K-32's. I don't have any information regarding the particulars of the engraving pattern, but the ones that I know of were 4 barreled skeet sets. Unfortunately we lost much of our records regarding early K-32's in hurricane damage from hurricane David.

The most resent research I have done for someone regarding a Munchen grade K-32, serial number in the #95XX range, was imported into the US by duPont/Krieghoff( Europa Corp) in 1978. I hope this helps.
Best,

Rebel - suggest you consult old editions of Shooter's Bible or Gun Digest, both of which would have listed the different K-32 variations (e.g. Standard, Munchen, San Remo, Crown, Super Crown) with MSRPs.

Pay attention now. I have a letter from Hal DuPont, postmarked December 4, 1981, 17 cents postage due. He enclosed a price list with skeet guns as well as others. Oddly, the high grade skeet guns on that price list were only four barrel sets. I'm sure one barrel sets were available, but were not on this price sheet. The difference in price between a standard grade 4 barrel set and a Munchen 4 barrel set was only $2000.00. The San Remo was another $5000.00 above the Munchen. The Monte Carlo grade was $16,000.00 above the Standard, and the Crown was $18,000 above the Standard Grade. None of my Krieghoff catalogs of the time include pictures of the Munchen Grade. The Munchen Grade may be rare, but it wasn't very highly thought of by DuPont. The Munchen Grade was catalogued long after the Europa period. The Super Crown is not priced in this period, although it is pictured in catalogs. Bill Murphy

Thank you, Bill. We have sort of figured out the Munchen grade guns came late onto the Model 32 scene, with most having serial numbers in the 9XXX and 10XXX range. We also believe that most all were imported by Hal as 4-barrel sets (28' of course).
It takes two things to be valuable:
1) Rarity
2) Demand
We have figured out the rarity part, but we do not know of how much demand there is for obsolete 28' 4-barrel skeet sets in a rather rare engraving pattern.
Example: 1949 Nash sedans are rare, but who wants one? Not many. Now, a 1965 shelby GT-350.. well, that's another story.
Thanks for your input, Bill.
M.D.

One good trait of the Munchen is that it is in the 'Good Zone' of K-32 manufacture. We have to understand that K-32 pricing in that era was wishful thinking on Hal's part. Looking carefully at the price lists, we find that sometimes graded guns in various configurations differed by thousands. Example would be a single gauge skeet gun of a certain grade being priced thousands above a trap gun of the same grade, when we know that just wasn't the case. I'm sure it was a proofreading error rather than an actual difference in pricing.

I found a Munchen on an old internet auction serial number 4203, so they aren't all late guns.

Hey guys, I will throw my hat in since I'm the guy Will found some info on for my Munchen. I was in correspondence with one of the guys on another shotgun site who has a Munchen 4 barrel set of which he sent me pictures. It is exactly as mine but it is silver finished on the frame and forend iron with blued trunnion screws. I was not aware a coin finish or 'French Gray' was an option on any pre K-80 Krieghoffs. I surmised someone had had it nickeled when it needed a refinish. I don't know his serial number. I did discover the trigger guard engraving is basically the same as a K-80 'super scroll'. Bill, you are right about being in the 'good' zone of 32's. Mine has been shot very little with only a slight amount of blue gone on the right corner of the frame and trigger guard. BTW the 28 gauge barrels measure Imp/Cyl and Skeet 2 or Light Mod. with 3' chambers and long cones. No choke tubes needed here. I just wish I could retrieve my other 32 Standard from the repair shop so I can enjoy shooting 20 gauge this spring. It's a 1965 4 digit gun, Ouch! See you and Mike later on the screen! Lee.

Help!! Found an ad for a Krieghoff 32 Munchen with trap barel, 410, 28, 20 and 12 ga O/U and an extra 12ga barrel. Claims he wants $1950 for all. Could it possibly be real?

Krieghoff Ks5 Serial Number History

Make: Krieghoff
Model: Model 32
Serial Number: 2425
Year of Manufacture: circa 1965 – 1970
Gauge: 12 Gauge, 2 ¾' Shells & 20 Gauge, 3' Magnum Shells
Action Type: Top-Break Over/Under with Single Selective Trigger and Ejectors
Markings: The sides of the receiver have some scroll work, the underside of the receiver is marked 'KRIEGHOFF / MODEL 32', the barrel selector is marked 'T' on the left and 'B' on the right. The interior bottom of the receiver is marked 'BN' in electro pencil and the top left edge of the receiver is marked '2425'. The inside of the forearm hardware is marked '2425'. The 12 gauge barrel set is marked 'KRIEGHOFF K. G. ULM GERMANY / MODEL 32 – 12 GA. / BUHLER-LAUFSTAHL' on the upper left side of the top barrel and 'MADE FOR EUROPA CORPORATION MIAMI FLORIDA' on the upper right side of the top barrel. The top barrel's left side is marked 'U1C', '12/70' and with an Eagle over 'N' proof mark. The left side of the lower barrel is marked 'U1C', 12/70', 'P' and with an Eagle over 'N' proof mark. The left side of the monobloc, above the ejector is marked with an 'S'. The underside of the monobloc is marked '2425' above an Eagle over 'N' proof mark, '466' and an Ulm antler mark. Below these marks is 'KRIEGHOFF / ULM / I'. The 20 gauge barrel set is marked 'KRIEGHOFF K. G. ULM GERMANY / BUHLER-LAUFSTAHL' on the upper left side of the top barrel and 'MADE FOR EUROPA CORPORATION MIAMI FLORIDA' on the upper right side of the top barrel. The left side of the top barrel is marked 'UC1', '12/76' and 'MAGNUM' which are partially obscured by a metal filler bar that fills in what would be a gap left by the 20 gauge barrel using a forearm fitted for 12 gauge barrels. The left side of the lower barrel is marked 'UC1', 'P' over '20/76', 'MAGNUM'. Below that is an Eagle over 'N' proof with '12' to its left and '00' to its right. The underside of the monobloc is marked 'W614 / 2498' above an Eagle over 'N' proof followed by '666' and an Ulm antler mark. Below these marks is 'KRIEGHOFF / ULM / I'. Each of the 20 gauge ejectors are marked 3'.
Barrel Length: Both Barrel Sets are 28' Long.
Choke: The choke markings, as we understand them are all '1' which indicates Improved Cylinder with about .010' of constriction. The 12 gauge upper barrel actually measures about .006' of constriction and the 12 gauge lower barrel actually measures about .005' of constriction. The 20 gauge upper barrel actually measures about .008' of constriction and the 20 gauge lower barrel actually measures about .005' of constriction.
Sights / Optics: The 12 gauge barrel set is mounted with a small steel mid-rib bead and a Bradley bead front sight where the white bead has broken off. The 20 gauge barrel set is mounted with a small steel mid-rib bead and a white Bradley bead front sight.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are checkered walnut with a pistol grip. There is a black grip cap with white spacer and a Terminator recoil pad which is well fitted and still pliable. The left side pistol grip has one small compression mark and the right side is unmarred. There are about a dozen small handling and compression marks scattered throughout the butt stock. There are both repaired chips and a lost chip where the stock mates with the receiver on each side of the trigger guard. Please see our detailed photos to examine this area. The forearm has no chips or scratches but does have some scattered handling and compression marks. The start of an about ½' crack may be seen at the right rear of the forearm latch, but this cannot be seen going through to the inside. The LOP measures 14 3/16' from the front of the trigger to the back of the recoil pad. The drop at the comb measures about 1 3/8' and the drop measures about 2' at the heel. The stocks rate in about Very Good overall condition.
Type of Finish: Blue Barrels with White Receiver
Finish Originality: All Original
Bore Condition: The 12 gauge bores are bright as are the 20 gauge bores. There is no erosion.
Overall Condition: This shotgun retains about 96% of its metal finish. The balance of the finish shows some thinning and loss, mostly from assembling and disassembling the shotgun. There are several light scratches on the underside of the receiver. The barrel sets have some bright spots on the sharp edges of the barrel ribs. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear except as discussed. Overall, this shotgun rates in about Very Good to Fine condition and would be Fine without question if the butt stock was not missing some wood chips where it joins at the lower receiver.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The tang safety does not move or engage, we believe this was intentional (there are no alibis in Skeet when shooting an Over/Under.) We have not fired this shotgun.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This two barrel set shotgun is supplied with sub gauge barrel inserts for the 12 gauge barrels in 28 Gauge and .410 Bore. These inserts are marked in electro pencil with '2425'. One insert from each set is also marked 'Top' and has a red felt marker band to help indicate for which barrel it has been fitted. The chamber end of the tubes show some wear from rubbing against the breech face during opening and closing of the action. The bores are bright and have fixed chokes. Also provided are three sets of ejectors, one in 12 gauge, another in 28 gauge and one in .410. Each set has been marked with a 'T' to indicate which ejector is fitted to the top barrel. Other than that, the 12 gauge is unmarked; the remaining ones are marked '28' or '410' as appropriate. There is a small soft faced hammer for installing and removing the sub gauge tubes. The hammer is well used and has some loss of finish and face. A small triangular stone is provided for smoothing any burrs that might occur. The hammer and stone are in Good and Very Good condition respectively. Lastly, an aluminum Americase comes with this ensemble, capable of carrying the forearm and butt stock in their lined and padded compartments in the lower portion, along with a compartment for accessories. The upper portion has four compartments with a hinged cover secured by Velcro straps. The compartments hold either a barrel set or a sub gauge tube set. The case has two keyed latches for which no keys are supplied and a latch secured by a combination lock, the combination for which is supplied. The case is marked on the exterior but does not seem to have been abused; it's likely some of the scuffs could be cleaned off if desired. The case as a whole is in Very Good to Fine condition and absolutely solid physically.
Our Assessment: This is a complete four gauge American Skeet package. The Krieghoff Model 32 (which evolved into the K80) needs no introduction to serious skeet competitors. They are designed to survive being shot literally thousands of times (they keep on ticking – more like a Rolex perhaps than a Timex) and many current K80 parts should be interchangeable with this Model 32 if ever needed. It is provided with a ported 28' barrel set in 12 gauge and an unported barrel set in 20 gauge. Also supplied are two sets of sub gauge inserts (28 and .410) that are not marked as to manufacturer, but fitted to the 12 gauge barrels. Killing floor 'london's finest character pack download for mac download. All of this is contained in an Americase fitted case. This is just less than 32 pounds of skeet shooting heaven and supplies. If you are looking to step up your game, this is your chance.

Real or not, be careful if you proceed. Sounds a little fishy to me.
